NYAMJAM-ming at Goldeneye

My idea of a perfect weekend is to bask in the glory of a comfortably salubrious villa location with the ocean tides as backdrop, and a feast being prepared by my favorite chefs of some of the best foods ever. While I know that I’m not alone in this, I do know that there are enough out there that share my enthusiasm to make this idyllic weekend possible. What’s this idyllic weekend you ask? It’s the NyamJam Food & Music Festival that was recently hosted at the fabulous Goldeneye. And with none other than some of my favorite chefs like Mario Batali, Seamus Mullen, Johnny Iuzzini, and local faves Colin Hylton and the Rousseau sisters.

Friday night started with a four-course dinner that included beet salad with ricotta, Jamaican citrus crostata and a selection of sweet delectable, like Bacardi Rum & Marley Coffee milkshakes, Bacardi Rum cakes with ginger and pineapple confit, Marley Coffee and roasted chocolate mousse with coffee coated almonds and pumpkin fritters, Bacardi Rum soaked raisins.

Saturday was the NyamJam market where a mélange of Jamaican and international chefs played hosts to the eclectic audience that only Goldeneye could command. The market was further cemented by a night of gorgeous vulgarity as patrons rocked to the beats of Angelique Kidjoe, Tarrus Riley, and Ernie Ranglin.
