PATOO Eat. Stay. Go | Andre Fowles (Chef)

The PATOO Tastemakers’ exploits are well known as some of the world’s ultra fabulous. Who knows the Caribbean better than its own tastemakers who will guide you to their personal oasis?

This new PATOO series, Eat. Stay. Go explores how, unlike how many perceive it, there is no cult of personality in the Caribbean. And that’s the way our ultimate insiders like it.

Why Visit Jamaica?
We should visit my island of Jamaica, because its paradise filled with everything from warm hospitality, to strong culture through food and music. When it comes to the food it’s an experience that one has to try once in their lifetime.

EAT
I am a huge fan of Street food, & Jamaica has some of the best! Try fresh local seafood, Jerk Chicken and jerk pork is a must. When I’m home I look forward to having a patty and jerk pork.

STAY
Round Hill in Montego Bay and Rockhouse in Negril are 2 of my favorites. They have breathtaking views and are just a home away from home for me.

GO
When visiting Jamaica the places I always tell friends to go and visit are:

  • Dunns River Falls for its natural beauty.

  • Hellshire for the best fish experience

  • Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay it gives me a south of France vibe

  • National Gallery Of Jamaica because it highlights Jamaica’s finest in the art world old and young.

  • Bob Marley Museum – simply because it’s the legend.

  • Dancehall spot in Kingston such as Mojito Mondays & Weddy Weddy to learn the latest dances craze and see what the youth of Jamaica are listening to.
